Questo film e' un altro tra gli innumerevoli capolavori di Vincent Price. Storia intrigante, colpi di scena e suspense, insomma un thriller di classe. Da questo film e' stato tratto il piu' recente I'm Legend con Will Smith.

Skyline -  Voto 5,5

Finalmente ho visto Skyline e vi diro le critiche sono piu' che meritate. La critica maggiore va a colpire sia la storia sia i dialoghi, in quanto la storia e' banale, i dialoghi sono scontati e anche questi risultano banali. La recitazione e' scarsa, si nota pesantemente la mancanza di un'attore di spessore, perche' secondo me Eric Balfour non lo e'. Si ci avra' messo impegno ma non basta solo questo, non mi ha trasmesso quelle vibrazioni ed emozioni, che per esempio ho avuto guardando Tom Cruise in War of the Worlds. Poi ci sono le attrici Scottie Thompson, Brittany Daniel, Crystal Reed, e anche loro non si salvano. Il risultato della loro recitazione mi e' apparso forzato in certi tratti, per spiegarmi meglio, si e' visto che recitavano.

 E allora cosa si salva della pellicola?

Gli effetti speciali, che sono  assolutamente fantastici. Immagino che i 10.000.000$ quanto e' costato il film, siano finiti propri qui. Gli effetti speciali sono cosi reali, che sono rimasto affascinato dalla loro perfezione. I fratelli Strause, hanno dimostrato ancora una volta che sono i migliori in questo campo.

Cosa altro dire di un film che prometteva tanto e inveca a dato poco o quasi nulla?

Che per la prossima volta e' meglio spendere qualcosina in piu' per gli attori invece che per gli effetti speciali. Perche' gli effetti speciali sono importanti, ma non sono tutto. A volte un sceneggiatore e un attore di livello, sono meglio che 100.000.000$ di effetti speciali.

I finally saw Skyline and I will tell you the critics are more than deserve. The main criticism is on both the storyline and dialogue, as the plot is corny, the dialogues are foregone and even these are very corny. The acting was poor, there is a lack of a big named actor, 'cause I think that Eric Balfour isn’t. Yes, he put a lot of work in this movie but was enough; I didn’t feel the vibrations and emotions, for example when I watched Tom Cruise in War of the Worlds. Then there are actresses Scottie Thompson, Brittany Daniel, Crystal Reed, and even they are not saved. The result of their acting appeared to me in some flicks forced.

 
So what saves the film?
The special effects are absolutely fantastic. I guess the $ 10,000,000 as it cost the movie, is right here. The special effects are so real that I was fascinated by their perfection. The Brothers Strause, showed once again that they are the best in this field.

What else can I say about a film that promised so much and instead gave little or nothing?
That for the next time is better to spend a little bit more' for the actors rather than special effects. Because the special effects are important, but not everything. Sometimes a writer and a big named actor are better than $ 100,000,000 of special effects.

COWBOYS AND ALIENS? ˝Booo˝

E io che pensavo di aver gia visto tutto. Dopo aver visto distrutta Los Angeles, e' arrivata l'ora del deserto dell'Arizona.

Cosa altro dirvi, sembra che ultimamente siano tornati di moda gli alieni. Avendo visto il titolo del film, pensavo che appena avro visto il trailer sarei morto dalle risate, e invece no.

Il film sembra molto ben fatto, e gli effetti speciali sembrano esser dosati nella maniera giusta. La storia poi e abbastanza intrigante per mantenere la suspense per tutto il film.

Dal regista di Iron Man e Iron Man 2, Jon Favreau, arriva quindi un nuovo Sci-Fi action movie Cowboys & Aliens. Ambientato nel periodo della conquista dell'ovest (1873), il film parla di come gli indiani Apache e i residenti di Absolution, debbano mettere da parte i loro disguidi per combattere gli alieni sbarcati nel loro paese. La cosa piu' interessante di questo film, se mettiamo da parte la storia che gia di per se e' intrigante (cowboys, indiani, alieni, wild wild west) e' sicuramente il cast, di cui fanno parte: Olivia Wilde (Dr. House), Harrison Ford, Daniel Craig (Casino Royale, Munich) ed altri.

All'inizio si pensava a Robert Downing Jr. come attore protagonista, ma successivamente si e' optato per Daniel Craig.

Altra cosa interessante: il produttore esecutivo e Steven Spielberg e chi altri se non lui poteva produrre un film del genere.

And I thought that I had already seen everything. After seeing destroyed Los Angeles, it’s time for the Arizona desert.

What else to tell you, it seems that lately the aliens are back in fashion. Having seen the film title, I thought that soon as I will finish watching the trailer I would have died laughing, but no.
The film seems very well made, and the special effects seem to be assayed in the right way. The story then is intriguing enough to keep the suspense throughout the film. From the director of Iron Man and Iron Man 2, Jon Favreau, comes a new Sci-Fi action movie Cowboys & Aliens. Set in the period of the conquest of the West (1873), the film talks about how the Apache Indians and residents of Absolution, must put aside their ˝misunderstandings˝ to fight the aliens landed in their country. What is most interesting about this film, if we put aside the story already intriguing (cowboys, Indians, aliens, wild wild west)  is surely the cast, which includes: Olivia Wilde (Dr. House), Harrison Ford, Daniel Craig (Casino Royale, Munich) and others.

At first it was thought Robert Downing Jr. will take the role of leading actor, but later, the production opted for Daniel Craig.
Another interesting thing: the executive producer Steven Spielberg and who else but him could produce such a film.

The Cowboys are back in town

Questa volta pero' non c'e' Clint Eastwood sul cavallo ma Jeff Bridges, Matt Damon e Josh Brolin. Mi viene da dire wooooow che cast, per questo western diretto dai fratelli Coen.  Il film e' il remake di True Grit del 1969 con John Wayne, Robert Duvall e Dennis Hopper. True Grit dei fratelli Coen, rimane fedele all'originale, la storia quindi non cambia.

Dopo che le hanno ucciso il padre, Mattie Ross (e' la prima volta sullo schermo per Hailee Steifeld) chiede aiuto allo sceriffo Reuben J. Cogburn (Jeff Bridges) di trovare il colpevole.

Il film uscira' nelle sale americane il 22 dicembre, in europa arriva a febbraio. 

 This time, however isn’t Clint Eastwood on the horseback, but Jeff Bridges, Matt Damon and Josh Brolin. I would say wooooow. The cast is absolutely fantastic  for this Western directed by the Coen brothers. The film is a remake of the 1969 True Grit with John Wayne, Robert Duvall and Dennis Hopper. True Grit by the Coen brothers, remain faithful to the original, the story does not change.
After that they killed her father, Mattie Ross  (first time on screen for Hailee Steifeld) asks for help the Marshal Reuben J. Cogburn (Jeff Bridges) to find the murderer.

The film will be released 'in theaters December 22, arrives in Europe in February.

L.A. UNDER ATTACK!

In questi giorni e' uscito Skyline dei fratelli Strause e le prime critiche non sono incoraggianti (il film non l'ho ancora visto, sara' fatto in questi giorni). Comunque una delle maggiori critiche e la mancanza di un attore di livello, i dialoghi scontati, la storia in generale. Cio non toglie che gia' dal trailer si e' capito che gli effetti speciali sono fantastici, pero' sembra che finisca tutto qui. Bisogna pero notare che il film ha avuto a disposizione un budget limitato, circa 10.000.000$, e che quindi non hanno potuto fare un colossal. Pero' il film diretto da Danny Boyle 28 Days Later e' costato ancora meno, circa 8.000.000 $, ed e' comunque uno dei film piu' aprezzati dell'ultimo decennio.


E adesso arriva il bello.
A marzo 2011 uscira' nelle sale cinematografiche World Invasion: Battle LA, Action - SCI-Fi pellicola diretta da Jonathan Liebesman (The Texas Chainsaw Massacre). Il film tratta piu' o meno la stessa storia di Skyline, ovvero l'arrivo degli UFO sulla Terra e la battaglia che ne consegue. A differenza di Skyline pero', il film ha un budget cospicuo, 100.000.000 $, ed un' cast ben piu' conosciuto tra i quali sono accreditati Aaron Eckhart (The Dark Knight – Duefaccie), Michelle Rodriguez (Avatar, SWAT, Resident Evil), Ramon Rodriguez (Transformers, Pelham 123) e il cantante R&B NE-YO. La cosa interessante e' che anche questo film a come teatro della battaglia tra gli umani e gli aleni Los Angeles, proprio come Skyline.

These days were release the Strause brothers Skyline and the early critics are not encouraging (film that I have not seen yet, I will in those days). However one of the major criticisms is the lack of an star actor, dialogues are predictable, the movie plot in general. But there is also a positive side of the story, already in the movie trailer we understood that the special effects are fantastic, but' it seems that everything ends up here. We must note, however, that for the film was available just a limited budget, approximately $ 10,000,000, and therefore could not make a blockbuster. But a movie directed by Danny Boyle 28 Days Later coasted even less, about $ 8,000,000, and it 'still it has become a blockbuster and one of the most appreciated movie the last decade.

And now comes the fun part.
In March 2011 will be released in theaters World Invasion: Battle LA, Action - Sci-Fi movie directed by Jonathan Liebesman (The Texas Chainsaw Massacre). The film is more 'or less the same story of Skyline, or the arrival of UFOs on Earth, and the battle that ensues. Unlike Skyline, the film has a substantial budget, $ 100,000,000, and a cast far more known, among them are credited Aaron Eckhart (The Dark Knight - DubleFace), Michelle Rodriguez (Avatar, SWAT, Resident Evil), Ramon Rodriguez (Transformers, Pelham 123), and R & B singer NE-YO. The interesting thing is that this film the theater of battle between humans and aliens is Los Angeles, just like Skyline.
